Scope and Objective

The event, which was implemented as a side event of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 19), had as a main objective to collect feedback on knowledge gaps in climate policy from stakeholders, including national and local observers.

Background

POLIMP project has worked on the identification of knowledge needs of a wider stakeholder group, involved in European climate-related policymaking, through in-depth interviews and an online survey.

IGES has developed a framework of steps to undertake, in order to add ex-ante clarity to nationally determined contribution to climate change mitigation and enhance their levels of ambition, based upon the lessons learnt from current initiatives and highlighting knowledge gaps to be filled.

Content

The side event aimed to present the preliminary results and lessons of a knowledge gap analysis, and identify and assess knowledge needs in climate policy, which emerge in the process of developing nationally determined pledges and more in general in the design of international climate policy agreements.
